MAC’s Take

Since its inception almost 20 years ago, the Contra has been an absolute machine for lightwind conditions. This naturally led to Cabrinha’s designers looking at it for use with foiling, a super natural progression for the kite. The 1-strut iteration drops a lot of the weight that the 3-strut has, allowing for flight in much lighter conditions. Pair that with a quick response time and you’ve got an ultra foiling machine.

The Contra 1 Strut has quickly garnered a reputation as one of the best kites for lightwind freeriding and has proven a versatile addition to any kite quiver. With its single strut design, this light and nimble kite allows the use of much smaller sizes to maximize foilboarding’s true potential. Featherweight control and amazing drift characteristics allow for low angles of attack while on foil, and the rear line tension increases steering impulse even when depowered.

TECH

HIGH TENACITY DACRON

Cabrinha’s Dacron is specifically designed for inflated kite structures. The construction of this material is very warp orientated using ultra high tenacity yarns with an increased thread count to combat elongation in the warp direction under the high inflation pressures. Lower elongation make for a more accurate kite with less deformation while in flight.

NANO RIPSTOP CANOPY

A higher level of performance can only be achieved when the kite’s design properties are supported by a stable and reactive kite material. Nano Ripstop does just that.

PURE PROFILE PANELS

Strategically placed panels allow for a seamless and smooth airflow over the most important area of the flying surface, creating an efficient and true to design profile that no others can match.
